Towards Happiness, similar to Dr. Friedberg's book bearing the same title, seeks to help people uncover and sustain fulfillment across different dimensions of their lives. This includes areas such as love, relationships in the workplace, and navigating the complexities of aging.

Dr. Ahron Friedberg M.D.

 

Dr. Ahron Friedberg is a Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine and Editor of the Academy Forum, a leading professional journal, as well as Book Editor of Psychodynamic Psychiatry. He practices as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in Manhattan. Dr. Friedberg has written Psychotherapy and Personal Change: Two Minds in a Mirror, Life Studies in Psychoanalysis: Faces of Love, Towards Happiness - A Psychoanalytical Approach to Finding Your Way and Through A Screen Darkly - Psychoanalytic Reflections During the Pandemic (winner of the 2022 Gradiva Award for best book). His forthcoming book Everyday Leadership: Taking Charge in the Real World will be published in 2024.

 

At Mount Sinai, Dr. Friedberg served as Co-chair of the Psychiatry Advisory Board and has developed and led several academic and teaching initiatives including their Innovations in Psychiatry Symposium. Dr. Friedberg also directs the Symposium, a national meeting held annually at Mount Sinai. He participates in clinical research as part of the Department’s Mood and Anxiety Program, which focuses on relevant translational neuroscience and understanding mechanisms of resilience.

Sandra Sherman J.D., Ph.D.,

J.D., Ph.D., was a Senior Attorney in the U.S. government and a Professor of English at two major universities.  She is the author of four books and over 60 peer-reviewed articles on 18th-century literature and culture, and is co-author of several books on neuroscience.  Currently, she is a Director at Childsplay International.  She is co-author of four books with Dr. Friedberg, and is working with him on a fifth.

Dr. Ahron Friedberg M.D., and Sandra Sherman Ph.D. won the 2022 coveted Gradiva Award for the book Through a Screen Darkly - Psychoanalytic Reflections During the Pandemic.
